How to write a recommendation letter
You may wish to give this to the person you ask to give you a statement of character or letter of recommendation. It is probaly best only to give it to someone not used to writing these. The content is not meant to be patronising to ask as your application is very important and the stronger the recommendation the stronger your application.
The letter may be (type) written in a classic format: Introduction, body and Conclusion.
Start with an introduction about yourself; write something about your position and your relation with the applicant.
In the body you include things about the student. Start to collect information about the student, especially by asking the student for information. Try to find two or three qualities of the student and use specific examples to confirm them. You can also rank the quality by confirming them to other students. Avoid using negative implications in the letter and do not include comments that could be interpreted as a preconceived opinion.
Enclose in the end of the letter you address, phone number and email address, so you can be contacted for further information.
