Recommendation letter
To apply for our Academic and Sport Scholarships, we request:
Two letters of recommendation from a teacher at your Secondary School (or equivalent) or a professor from your higher education college (from whom you are transferring credits).
When you are choosing a teacher to write a letter of recommendation, look for a teacher who really knows you. So he/she can really tell something about you. An other issue is the subject; the subjects ‘English’ or ‘Math’ are the most interesting ones. Further, look for a recent teacher, because we are interested in current perspectives.
It is wise to ask the teacher as early as possible. Otherwise there will be a big change that the teacher just copy and past everything from an earlier recommendation.
To help the teacher, you could provide him/her with information about your participation in his/her lessons, assignments you have made for his subject and your plans for the future. Further you could inform him/her about things like your goals and activities to improve yourself.
Interesting things to enclose in the recommendation letter are:
- Education performance
- Skills; strengths, talents, abilities
- Attitude
Once you have received confirmation for an Academic or Sport Scholarship, write a note to your recommender and thank them for their help.
