Preparing a good CV
To apply for a US scholarship you need to write a Curriculum Vitae. The word ‘Curriculum Vitae’ literally translated means ‘the story of your life’. In your CV you tell things about your life history, your education, your achievements and your skills.
Before you start to write your CV, keep the next things in mind:
- Type your CV.
- The CV is never longer than two-pages (A4).
- Use a neutral letter type. Use bold or italics to emphasis important words.
- Avoid long sentences.
- Be positive in your CV.
- Write the most recent information first.
- Be honest.
You usually start with some general basic information about yourself.
- Name
Write always your first name first. - Home address
Include your whole address + postcode. If you are in temporary residence, please use your parents or guardians address. - Telephone number
Enclose your home number and your mobile number. Do not forget to enclose the area code for your home number. - Email address
Make sure your email address is a respectable one (eg. sexboy@.. may not impress) Further, do not block our email in your junk box. ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) - Date of Birth
To avoid confusion write the day and spell the month. - Nationality
- Gender
