Highlight your life,

one moment at a time.

If your personal statement outlines a picture of your life, your Curriculum Vitae colours between the lines. It marks major milestones of your education, achievements, and skills in an easy-to-glance-at document.

Follow these guidelines to create an attention-grabbing CV:

Start with

  • Name: (first, last)
  • Home address: Include your postcode. If you are at a temporary address, use your parents' or a guardian's address.
  • Telephone number: Home and mobile. Don't forget the area code.
  • Email address: Make sure it's respectable. Your name would be a great one. "sexybeast@____ would not.
  • Date of Birth: To avoid confusion over formatting, write the number and spell the month.
  • Nationality
  • Gender

Finish with

  • Education
  • Work experience
  • Key skills and abilities
  • Interests
  • References

Don't forget

  • Type your CV, and make it no longer than two pages (A4).
  • Use a professional, neutral font. Bold or italics are fine for key terms or headings.
  • Avoid long sentences.
  • Be positive!
  • Write the most recent information first.
  • Be honest.
