Most of the information on this website is aimed at addressing the issues of studying at a US University from the point of view of a student. However there are some issues that you as a parent would want to know for peace of mind. Value of a US Degree

The main concern is that your child will enjoy their experience, gain from it, build their confidence and generally come out of it as a better person. All teenagers are different and mature at different stages, emotionally and physically and have different levels of motivation and self-confidence.

Finance and funding

You do need to consider the financial aspects of studying in the US. The first issue is that the UK government, to date don’t offer a grant system for studying overseas, so any fees that are not covered by the scholarship will have to be met by the student and payments must be kept up to date.

Welfare

 If there's one thing American Institutions excel at it's Pastoral care. US Universities are generally friendlier and less intimidating than European institutions, but all the same it’s an issue to consider as culture shock and adjustments are inevitable for the majority of students arriving from overseas.
