Application Process
When to Apply
The ideal time to apply is in Year 12. That provides adequate time to plan and decide and also take SAT exams without the pressure of final year exams. The best time to apply to attend the Sports Showcase is for the July at the end of Year 12. You can then hold open the scholarship offers for one year.
We recommend that students in Year 13 wanting to attend the Sports Showcase, either defer their entry until the following January or apply for an Academic scholarship as the timing is very tight to attend the July Showcase and hope to choose a University, apply to it, wait for the process to be complete and then apply for a F1 visa all in 6 or 7 weeks. Alternatively you can delay your start to January of the following year.
Applying to a US University direct can be a daunting experience. You will be relieved to know that we only require one applications plus a list of supporting documentation. The clearer and better this is completed the stronger your application. Time and thought should go into the personal statement
American universities also require transcripts, an official copy of your academic records, sent directly from the school(s) you attended.
If your child's first language is not English then your child will also have to take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) to prove proficiency in the English language. If you have studied in the UK for a major qualification, such as A levels, you may contact each university to request a 'waiver' from the TOEFL.
Scholarship Report
Once your child has applied by submitting their forms along with the Scholarship fee we will provide them with a Scholarship Report. This will indicate all the scholarship awards and the Universities and any conditions attached, such as a SAT score, or a Grade Point Average score. You can then analyse, research and choose your University. Our team in the US can then help you through the formal admission process and collate all the information required for your child to apply to the US Embassy for a visa.
