Specialised Degree courses

There are a few undergraduate courses that do not conform to the standard system, particularly if it is not a liberal Arts degree. The three courses that we frequently deal with are Law, medicine and Engineering.

Engineering

If you would like to study Engineering there are two different avenues open:

  • Engineering
  • Pre-Engineering

If you choose for Engineering, you can choose of the following Engineering programmes:

  • Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Construction Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering

This programme takes 4 years.

If you choose for Pre-Engineering, you can choose of the following Pre-Programmes:

  • Pre-Engineering
  • Pre-Lab Technology
  • Pre-Physics

You take about 2 years of the Pre-Programme, and then you will transfer to a different institution for about 2 more years, to finish their Engineering Degree.

Law

In the American educational system, the career of Law is divided into two stages:

  • Undergraduate Degree (4 years).
  • Graduate Degree (5 to 6 years).

To become a Lawyer, students need to complete both stages. We offer access and scholarships through both programmes (Sports and Academic) only to the first stage. During the first stage, students can pursue the following majors:

  • Pre-Law.
  • Political Science.
  • Criminology.
  • Criminal Justice.

Once you have gained an Undergraduate degree on any of the majors mentioned above, you will have to follow a Graduate Degree in Law. We will be able to assist you on getting scholarships for the Graduate Degree in Law, but we cannot guarantee any amounts.

Medicine

In the American educational system, the career of Medicine is divided into two stages:

  • Undergraduate Degree (4 years).
  • Graduate Degree (5 to 6 years).

To become a doctor, students need to complete both stages. IDEA offers access and scholarships trough both programs (Athletic and Academic) only to the first stage. During the first stage, students can pursue the following majors:

  • Pre-Medicine
  • Biology
  • Physics
  • Nursing
  • Chemistry

Once you gain your Undergraduate degree on any of the majors mentioned above, you will have to continue a Graduate Degree in Medicine. We will be able to assist them on getting scholarships for the Graduate Degree in medicine, but we cannot guarantee any amounts.
